Getting booked more often: a profile checklist for artists

Sep 10, 2026 · 5 min read

An organiser browsing Crackerjack is usually comparing several profiles for the same date and city before they message anyone. What's on the profile at that moment decides whether you're one of the ones they message — before they ever hear you play a note.

A real bio, not a one-line tag

"Singer" tells an organiser almost nothing. What you perform, the kind of events you're usually booked for, and how long you've been doing it tells them whether you're right for their specific night. A bio under a couple of sentences reads as unfinished, even if the person behind it is completely serious about performing.

List your actual genre or craft, and your city

This isn't decoration — it's what search and category filtering actually run on. An artist with no listed genre or location doesn't show up when an organiser filters for "DJ, house, Bangalore" — not because the matching logic is against them, but because there was nothing to match against.

Set a rate, even a range

Organisers filter by budget before they read a single bio. A profile with no rate shown either gets skipped by that filter entirely or gets a message from someone whose budget was never going to match — a rate range up front filters both ways, saving everyone a conversation that wasn't going anywhere.

Answer quickly once a request comes in

Organisers booking for a specific date are usually talking to more than one artist at once. A fast, clear answer — even just confirming availability before you've worked out the full quote — keeps you in the conversation. A slow reply is the most common reason a genuinely good fit loses a booking to someone else.

Keep your calendar honest

Marking dates you're already booked keeps organisers from chasing a date you can't actually take, and it's what makes the dates you do show as open worth something. A profile that always says "available" trains organisers to double-check with you anyway, which defeats the point of showing availability at all.
